PLANTING DESIGN

Whether you have an existing garden that you would like to revamp, or are starting from scratch, we can work with you to create a truly beautiful and individual space to complement your home and enhance your life.

Design packages start from £500, depending on the size of garden and complexity of design.

Information on what to expect from the Planting Design process is below.

STEP 1: INITIAL MEETING

After a call to chat about what you are looking for, we will come to your garden to get to know you and the space. We will discuss in detail what you would like to achieve in your garden, as well as any plants and design styles that you love. We will then send you a quote for the work.

This is a good time to start thinking about garden aftercare  - who will look after your beautiful garden once it has been planted? We can help by recommending local, horticulturally trained gardeners. Or if you would like to get into gardening yourself, we can create a maintenance handbook specific to your garden. Kate also provides gardening training.

STEP 2: SITE ANALYSIS

For a garden to thrive, it is vitally important to have healthy soil, and for the plants, trees and shrubs to be in the optimum location. We will conduct a detailed soil and site analysis before design work begins. This will cover elements such as soil type and texture, aspect and existing planting.

This is important so that we know whether any soil improvement work is required prior to planting. This will make for happy, healthy plants, and as a result, a beautiful, resilient garden!

STEP 3: DESIGN PROPOSAL

You will then receive a Design Proposal unique to you and your garden. Concept illustrations will convey the character and atmosphere of the garden we are working towards, usually in the form of perspective sketches, elevation drawings and mood boards.

This is a collaborative and flexible stage where adjustments can be made before agreeing on the final design and plant list.

STEP 4: PLANTING PLAN AND PLANT SCHEDULE

Once the Design Proposal has been finalised, we will prepare the Planting Plan and Plant Schedule. The Planting Plan details the location of each plant, tree and shrub within the garden, and is used for setting out and planting.

The Plant Schedule details the exact names, sizes and quantities required, and is used for costing and ordering.

STEP 5: PLANT SUPPLY

Using the Plant Schedule, a detailed quote, per plant, can be produced, and the plants can be ordered. We source high quality plants from trusted and renowned UK nurseries.

STEP 6: SETTING OUT AND PLANTING

Once the plants have been delivered and checked, we will set them out and plant them according to the Planting Plan. This will be done by Kate and her team, and we are also more than happy for clients to get involved!
